A gym log with no account
Writing down three numbers between sets should not require an email address, a password and a verification link. Mekimeki has no account, no sign-up and no login screen. Install it, open it, start logging.
What "no account" actually means here
- Nothing to create. No email, no password, no social sign-in, no onboarding wall before you can log.
- Nothing held back. There is no signed-out mode with fewer features. Everything is available immediately.
- Nothing collected. In the current version there are no Mekimeki servers and no training data collection.
- Nothing to lose access to. Your log cannot be locked behind a login you have forgotten.
So where does your training live?
On your iPhone. Your own iCloud is used for backup, which is what carries your history to a new device. That is the whole system: your device, your iCloud, no third party in between. It also means the app works fully offline, because there is nothing it needs to reach.
The trade you are not making
Account-free usually means stripped down. Here it does not. You still get your complete history, unlimited routines, unlimited custom exercises, automatic PR detection and estimated 1RM, progression tracking, a rest timer and a plate calculator. All of it free, none of it behind a sign-up.
Do I need to create an account to use Mekimeki?
No. There is no sign-up, no login screen and no email required. You install the app and start logging immediately.
Is there a free tier that needs an account later?
No. Every feature is free without an account, including your full history, unlimited templates and custom exercises.
Without an account, how does my data move to a new phone?
Through your own iCloud backup. Your training is stored on your iPhone and backed up to your personal iCloud, so it restores on a new device without any Mekimeki account.
Can the developer see my workouts?
No. In the current version Mekimeki has no servers of its own and collects no training data, so there is nothing on the developer side to read.
What the bigger trackers charge for
Quoted exactly from each developer’s own App Store listing. Where a listing does not state a limit, none is claimed here.
| App | What its own listing says | Published price |
|---|---|---|
| Mekimeki | Included from day one, for everyone | — |
| Strong | The free version of Strong can save unlimited workouts, but is limited to 3 custom routines. | $4.99/mo · $29.99/yr |
| JEFIT | Upgrade to JEFIT Elite to unlock our most powerful, science-backed training tools designed to accelerate your results: | $12.99/mo · $69.99/yr |

Free, and complete
The other half of the claim matters as much as the price. Mekimeki carries multi-week programs, a training calendar, 54 ready-made plans, nine ways to read your progress, a plate calculator, six set types that are scored rather than only labelled, iCloud sync for your own data, and eleven languages. It is a full tracker that costs nothing, not a small one.
