Why people look for a JEFIT alternative

Elite is the most expensive tier in this comparison

JEFIT lists Elite at $12.99 a month or $69.99 a year. Against $29.99 a year for Strong PRO, that is a different order of commitment, and it is worth being deliberate about whether the analytics dashboard and routine library are things you will open weekly.

The app does a great deal, and density has a cost

A platform this broad has a lot of surface. At the rack, between sets, with a bar loaded and a rest timer running, surface is the thing you are trying to get away from.

The interesting analytics sit above the line

The free tier logs. The premium analytics dashboard and the Elite routine library are what Elite is sold on, per JEFIT’s own listing, so the parts that reward long-term logging are the parts behind the tier.

What JEFIT has that Mekimeki does not

The exercise database

JEFIT’s catalogue is genuinely enormous and covers machines and variations that smaller apps never list. If you train at a well-equipped commercial gym and want everything pre-named, this is a real advantage.

Community routines at scale

A very large library of user-built programs to browse and adopt, which is a meaningfully different starting point from an empty template screen.

Where Mekimeki is different

Fully offline, including the basement gyms

Logging, history, personal records, estimated 1RM, the rest timer, and the plate calculator all run on-device with no network call. A gym with no signal changes nothing about how the app behaves.

Six set types, each scored differently

Normal, warm-up, drop set, failure, assisted, and per side are not just coloured labels. Warm-up sets are excluded from personal records and volume, assisted reps count the weight as assistance so less help reads as a higher estimated 1RM, and per-side sets double into volume.

There is no paid tier to compare against

Mekimeki does not have a Pro, Plus, Elite, or Premium version. There is no upgrade screen, because there is nothing behind it. Every feature listed on this site is in the free download, and that is a structural decision rather than a launch promotion.

The four shapes of "free"

Which one should you pick

Pick JEFIT if you want the widest exercise database and the same account on Android and the web. Pick Mekimeki if you want the logging and the long-term statistics in the same free app, on an iPhone, with no tier above you.

Questions people ask

What does JEFIT charge for?

JEFIT is free to download and charges for $12.99/mo · $69.99/yr. Here is how the developer puts it on the App Store listing: Upgrade to JEFIT Elite to unlock our most powerful, science-backed training tools designed to accelerate your results: Monthly: $12.99 / month · Yearly: $69.99 / year (Save over 55%)

Is Mekimeki really free, or is it free like JEFIT is free?

It is free with no paid tier of any kind. There is no Pro version, no subscription, no one-time unlock, and no advertising. The distinction matters because most trackers on this page are also free to download and then charge to remove a limit; Mekimeki has no limit to remove.

Can I move my history from JEFIT?

There is no direct importer for JEFIT data, and past sessions do not come across. What is worth carrying over is the last working weight for each exercise: a few minutes while you build your templates, after which the new history accumulates from there. Templates in Mekimeki are unlimited, so rebuilding a six-day split costs nothing but the typing.

Where these numbers come from

Every free-tier limit and price on this page is quoted word for word from that developer’s own App Store listing, and a dated copy of the listing is kept so the quote can be re-checked. How these comparisons are sourced and archived →
