A workout app with no ads
An ad between your working sets is not a minor annoyance. It lands in the ninety seconds you are supposed to be recovering and preparing for the next lift. Mekimeki has no ads at all, and no subscription you have to buy to remove them.
None of these exist in the app
- Banner ads along the bottom of the logging screen.
- Interstitials when you finish a set or a session.
- Rewarded video standing between you and your own data.
- Upgrade prompts firing mid-workout, which are just ads for the app you already opened.
Free without ads is the unusual part
A free app usually needs one of two funding models: show you ads, or put the useful half behind a subscription. Mekimeki does neither. Every feature is included at no cost, including your full history, unlimited routines and unlimited custom exercises.
What that buys you at rep ten
A logging screen that stays quiet. The thing you need every set, your previous weight and reps for that exercise, sits beside the input, and nothing competes with it for your attention. The rest timer runs, you put the phone down, you lift. That is the whole intended experience, and an ad slot would ruin it.
Does Mekimeki show ads?
No. There are no ads in the app: no banners, no interstitials between sets, and no video you have to sit through to see your own history.
If there are no ads and no subscription, what is the catch?
There is no paid tier being withheld. The full app is free, and the developer funds it rather than selling your attention. There is an optional support page for people who want to chip in.
Is my data sold instead?
No. In the current version training data stays on your iPhone with your own iCloud for backup. There are no Mekimeki servers collecting it, so there is nothing to sell.
What the bigger trackers charge for
Quoted exactly from each developer’s own App Store listing. Where a listing does not state a limit, none is claimed here.

| Strong | The free version of Strong can save unlimited workouts, but is limited to 3 custom routines. | $4.99/mo · $29.99/yr |
| JEFIT | Upgrade to JEFIT Elite to unlock our most powerful, science-backed training tools designed to accelerate your results: | $12.99/mo · $69.99/yr |

Free, and complete
The other half of the claim matters as much as the price. Mekimeki carries multi-week programs, a training calendar, 54 ready-made plans, nine ways to read your progress, a plate calculator, six set types that are scored rather than only labelled, iCloud sync for your own data, and eleven languages. It is a full tracker that costs nothing, not a small one.
