What happens to sets I did not finish when I end a workout?
When you finish a session, Mekimeki saves the sets you marked done and discards the ones you did not. The surviving sets are renumbered from one so the saved session reads cleanly, and any exercise left with no completed sets is dropped from the saved session entirely. If anything is still unmarked when you finish, you are asked to confirm first, so this never happens without warning.
What happens on finish
| Sets marked done | Saved in full: weight, reps, type, rest and the time you completed them. |
|---|---|
| Sets not marked done | Discarded. They are not saved to history in any form. |
| Numbering | Surviving sets are renumbered from 1, so gaps left by discarded sets do not appear in your history. |
| Exercises with nothing done | Removed from the saved session. |
| Confirmation | If any set is unmarked when you finish, Mekimeki tells you how many and asks before proceeding. |
| Template updates | If you also update the template from this session, the template keeps the full set list, including the ones dropped from history. |
Why unfinished sets are not kept
A planned set you did not perform is not training that happened, and keeping it would put it into the same history that volume, records and trends are computed from. The alternative — storing it and excluding it everywhere — produces a log that disagrees with itself about what you did.
The confirmation step exists because the intent behind an unmarked set is genuinely ambiguous: it may be a set you skipped, or one you performed and forgot to tick. Mekimeki asks rather than deciding for you.
The template keeps the plan
The two things are separated deliberately. History records what you did, so it holds only completed sets. A template records what you intend to do, so when you update a template from a session it keeps the full set list — including sets you did not get to that day. A session cut short does not quietly shrink the plan.
What this does not do
The boundaries of the behaviour above, stated so you do not have to infer them.
- Discarded sets cannot be recovered after the session is finished. Mark the set done before finishing if you performed it.
- Finishing does not alter the sets it keeps. Weight, reps, type and rest are stored as logged.
- An exercise removed for having no completed sets is removed from that session only. It stays in your library and in any template using it.
Related questions
I forgot to tick a set I actually did. Can I get it back?
Not after the session is finished — it was not saved. If you notice while the session is still open, mark it done and finish again.
Why did an exercise disappear from my saved workout?
Because none of its sets were marked done. An exercise with nothing completed is not saved into that session, though it remains in your library and templates.
Will finishing early shorten my template?
No. If you update the template from the session, the template keeps every set including the ones you did not complete.
