Do warm-up sets count toward my personal records and training volume?
No. In Mekimeki a set marked as warm-up is excluded from personal record detection and from training volume, in every view that reports either. The set is still saved and still shown in your history, so you keep the record of what you actually did — it simply cannot produce a personal record and does not add to your volume totals. Warm-up is the only set type that is excluded this way; drop set, failure, assisted and per-side sets all count.
The exclusion rule
| Eligible for records and volume | A set counts if, and only if, it is marked done and its type is not warm-up. |
|---|---|
| Personal records | Warm-up sets are filtered out before the current session is searched for a record, and before your history is searched for the mark to beat. |
| Training volume | Warm-up sets are filtered out of session volume and of per-exercise volume. |
| Your history | Unaffected. The set is stored and displayed exactly as logged. |
| Retroactive | The rule is applied when a figure is calculated, not when the set is saved. Changing a past set to warm-up removes it from the totals immediately. |
Why this is applied on both sides of the comparison
Excluding warm-ups from your new sets only would be half a rule. A personal record is a comparison against your own history, so if an old warm-up set were still sitting in that history as the mark to beat, a heavy opener logged months ago could quietly block a real record today.
Mekimeki filters warm-ups out of the historical maximum as well as out of the current session, so the comparison is working set against working set on both sides.
It applies from the moment the tag changes
The exclusion is not stamped onto the set when you save it. Volume and records are computed from your sets each time they are shown, so a set retagged as a warm-up drops out of the totals at once, and a warm-up retagged back to normal re-enters them at once. Nothing needs to be rebuilt and no history is rewritten.
What this does not do
The boundaries of the behaviour above, stated so you do not have to infer them.
- Warm-up sets are excluded, not deleted. They stay in your history and in your exported data.
- Total reps for an exercise also exclude warm-up sets — this is the same eligibility rule, not a separate one.
- Marking a set as warm-up does not change the rest timer to a shorter value automatically. Warm-up rest is a separate setting you can set yourself.
- There is no automatic detection of warm-ups. Mekimeki does not guess from the weight; you mark the set.
Related questions
Can an old warm-up set stop me from getting a personal record today?
No. Warm-up sets are removed from your history before the mark to beat is calculated, so they never sit in the way of a genuine record.
What happens if I forget to mark a warm-up and it registers as a record?
Change the set type to warm-up. Records are recalculated from your sets whenever they are shown, so the set stops counting immediately and the record reverts.
Do warm-up sets count toward the number of sets in the session?
They are shown in the session like any other set. It is the performance figures — records, training volume and total reps — that exclude them.
